Established in 1964, the School of Mechanical Engineering at Korea University has graduated 1,300 Masters and PhDs along with 4,300 Bachelors. Graduates are taking leading roles in various fields globally. The School consists of currently about 680 undergraduates, 250 graduate students, and 28 full time faculties. The department also has many laboratory facilities for research and education in its own buildings.

The department was ranked No.1 among all undergraduate/graduate mechanical engineering programs in Korea by the Korean Council for University Education (KCUE), Korea University Mechanical Engineering receives excellent evaluations in all sectors, including faculty, students, and education. It is also in the QS top 100, ranking 66th in the Shanghai Jiao Tong University assessment and it scores highly in other international assessment rankings. Korea University is proud to be Korea’s fastest growing school of mechanical engineering and has gained worldwide attention as such.

Marking its 50th anniversary in 2016, the School of Mechanical Engineering has set its sights on entering the world’s top 30 universities for mechanical engineering before it commemorates its 60th anniversary. With this goal, it is striving to construct research and education infrastructure, recruit world class faculty, and provide a scholarship to every student.
